Church of the Holy Sepulchre – Chapel of St Helena mosaic floor

On the east side of the Church is the Chapel of St. Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine, who discovered the cross and vault during her visit in 326 A.D. This beautiful Armenian chapel has a large mosaic floor, and is entered by a wide descending staircase of 29 steps with ancient graffiti of crosses scratched by medieval pilgrims along its walls.
