We were fortunate to encounter this celebratory procession near Zion Gate in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. The young man celebrating his Bar Mitzvah is shielded beneath a canopy and accompanied by family and well wishers to the beating of drums and the sounding of ram’s horn trumpets.
