Basement Rooms of the ‘Burnt House’ Jerusalem

Ground floor rooms of the house of the High Priest Bar Katros destroyed by fire by Titus’ soldiers in 70 A.D. shortly after the destruction of the Second Temple.
The remains, now known as the ‘Burnt House’ were excavated in 1969 by The Company for the Reconstruction and Development of the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem Ltd.
A Roman spear and the bones of an amputated arm were found amongst the layers of rubble and ash.
